Speaker: Kenneth Kirk from Kenneth Kirk & Associates
Details:
Mr. Kirk is going to give us valuable information about the adoption process; how it works; and tell us about the different types of adoptions such as OCS (Office of Children's Services); step-parent; regular; ICWA (Indian Child Welfare Act); and non-ICWA.
Mr. Kirk grew up in Chugiak and received his undergraduate degree in history from the University of Alaska, Anchorage, with honors in 1983, and his law degree from the Cornell Law School in 1987. He began a solo practice in Anchorage right out of law school which has become Kenneth Kirk & Associates. Mr. Kirk now practices mainly in the areas of adoptions, elder law, estate planning, and probate. He presently serves on the Appellate Rules Committee and is the former chairman of the Elder Law section of the Alaska Bar. He is a regular columnist in the Alaska Bar Rag, and is the state legal counsel for the Alaska Republican Party.
